#SneakPeekSunday with Rachell Nichole

Welcome back to Sneak Peek Sunday!

I love this meme, and I love sharing snippets of my books with you all. This week, we're going back to my first release, An Affair Across Times Square because I'm still working with Layla and Tyler in the sequel to Marietta Hotels Book One. The second book in the series is called, An Engagement in Paris and I'm working on the first round of edits with my wonderful editor Serena now.

So I thought I'd share a snippet from An Affair Across Times Square this week.

His breath stilled in his lungs as he watched the curtain open one agonizingly slow inch at a time. He couldn’t breathe as he looked at Ms. Marietta. She stood beside the table, a shiny black halter top dress setting off her light mocha skin and showing him a beautiful glimpse of her cleavage. The long dress almost reached her ankles but had a high slit on the left side, revealing a delicious expanse of thigh. Black strappy heels and sparkling jewelry completed her attire.
She pushed the button on the waiting telephone, and he turned on his speakerphone as it rang.
“I see you got my note,” he said.
Her answering laugh warmed him even more. “Yes, I did.”

I'll let your imaginations take over from there...

#WIP it Wednesday #Book Trailers!

Okay, so this isn't exactly info on a Work in Progress, but it is what I've been spending the bulk of my time doing the past two weeks!

At our last CNY Romance Writers meeting, Maggie Shayne came to talk to us about making fun and effective book trailers. And once I started, I just COULD NOT stop! It's been so much fun. Very time-consuming, but fun. So here are the results of my efforts... What do you think?

Which one is your favorite and why?

Rach's Blog Tour Schedule: 1/14/13 - 1/18/13

Morning y'all!

It's been a crazy couple of weeks I tell ya. I spent six exhausting, wonderful days in Pennsylvania at Seton Hill's Writing Popular Fiction Residency! I am now the proud owner of a Master of Fine Arts in Writing Popular Fiction. I spent a good portion of the weekend sleeping, but now it's time to get back to work!

This will be my first full week of the day job in a month! Probably going to be a bit crazy. And I am guest blogging all over the place this week! Check it out:

Today (1-14) I will be at Tory Michael's blog talking about one of my favorite subjects - ME! :-p Actually, I'm really not that narcissistic, but it's a good interview. So if you're dying to know more about Rach, come on by!

Tomorrow (1-15) I will be at Decadent Decisions - W. Lynn Chantale's blog. She and I interviewed Amy Easton, the heroine of Spicy with a Side of Cranberry Sauce - the holiday book that keeps on giving year-round! Come see what Amy has to say. I will also be awarding a FREE copy of Spicy with a Side of Cranberry Sauce to one lucky commenter on this blog.

Wednesday (1-16) I'll be at A Passion for Romance - Krista Ames's blog. She interviewed Tyler Lachlan, the hero of An Affair Across Times Square - book one in the Marietta Hotels series. See why I fell in love with Tyler and you should too! A free copy of An Affair Across Times Square will be awarded to a lucky commenter on this blog as well! (see how awesome I am giving away copies of my books!?)

And finally (for this week) on Thursday (1-17) I will be guest blogging at the Bootheel Cotton Patch. I'll be talking about using astrology to build Amy and Mason's characters - so this is a bit craft, a bit insight into the book. Come see what it's all about!*

*Change of plans - Thursday I will be at www.sizzlinghotbooks.com  :-)

I'll have another round of dates next week, so stay tuned!

Six Sentence Sunday with Rach

Welcome back to Six Sentence Sunday!!!!!!!

I was going to post something from my WIP, but decided to give you all another little taste of An Affair Across Times Square this week. So here it is...

“What do you want me to do?” Her words shook as she spoke. She surfed so close to the edge. So close to coming apart that just a few strokes of a hand would send her spiraling out of control. God, how she wanted to be out of control.

          “Slip your panties off.”

Well, there it is. Your little tease of spice to heat up your Sunday morning. I hope you enjoyed it and that we'll see you back here real soon.

Six Sunday with Rach

Morning everyone and welcome (back) to the Divas of Desire.

This am I'm going to tease you all with six sentences from my first book, An Affair Across Times Square

Hope you enjoy it...

TYLER LACHLAN COULDN’T believe what he saw through his office window. A woman across Times Square, eighteen stories high, scantily clad in the middle of her hotel room, pleasuring herself. And here he sat, staring at her like some sick Peeping Tom. His mother would be so ashamed, but he couldn’t look away. He could feel the way his body reacted to the sight of her. When he’d looked up from that morning’s briefing documents and gazed across the way to the hotel, he’d never expected to be greeted with such a sight.

Well, there it is folks... a little snippet from An Affair Across Times Square. On sale now at these locations:
Loose Id
Barnes & Noble
Amazon

Have a great Sunday everyone. Hope we'll see you back here soon.

'Tis (almost) the Season!

I'm very happy to announce that my next book will be out in just a couple months from Loose Id! It is a holiday book, which was so much fun to write.

I just came up with the title a few days back and I wanted to share it all with you.

Spicy with a Side of Cranberry Sauce. I'm very excited about this book and can't wait to share it in all its glory with you. Here's the premise...

When Mason goes home to his mother's for Thanksgiving, he's determined to make sure to help her through the first post-divorce holiday without much heartache. Ever since she split from his jerk of a father last year, she's been walking around like the shell of the vibrant woman he once knew. So when she calls him in a panic with a list of things she's forgotten at the store, he braves the only nearby store still open the day before Thanksgiving. He sees the last can of cranberry sauce and is on his way to get it when a beautiful blonde in black biker boots slams into his cart. Boy, did he not see that one coming.

Amy's a bundle of nerves this holiday season. It's the first time her father's been willing to celebrate since losing his wife over a decade ago. She's thrilled that Dad's finally ready to rejoin the land of the living, but she's terrified that one little misstep and he'll never celebrate anything again. She's praying it wasn't a mistake talking him in to accepting an old flame's invitation for Thanksgiving, and dreading what could go wrong. So when the sexy man she bowled into at the supermarket turns out to be Martha's son, she has no idea how to focus on holiday cheer and keep her desires in check.

I hope that sounds as exciting to you as it does to me. The book was a lot of fun to write and now I can't wait for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Guess I'll have to get through Halloween and book edits before then.

So, what do you think of the title, everyone? Has it intrigued you?? I hope so. Let me know your thoughts.

Check back soon for updates on the book and don't forget to check out my first erotic romance, An Affair Across Times Square featuring two lawyers on opposite sides of Times Square and a murder trial.

Talk to you soon,

~Rach

Why Times Square? A Q&A with Rach

So someone asked me this weekend why Times Square? She was really curious as to why I set An Affair Across Times Square in NYC, specifically in Times Square. I didn't have to think much about that, since I really had a great concept of where the whole idea for the book came from.
I was at a conference in NY and staying at a hotel in Times Square and I came back to the room one afternoon to change between sessions and I looked across the street and could see into the office building there! And an idea was born. In the opening scene of the book, Layla Morgan goes back to her hotel room, gets partially undressed and... let's of some steam, shall we say? In full view of the building across the square.  Then she does it again... while he watches! It's a hot opening scene and it was the germ for the whole rest of the book.

It couldn't have been set anywhere else in the world. I wish I had a shot from inside the room into the building across the street for your viewing pleasure, but I do not. Instead, here's a shot of Times Square that I took about five years back during a trip to NYC. I've always loved Times Square and all the craziness that ensues there. So it was a blast to set a book eighteen stories above the craziness... separate from it, but also so much a part of it.

I used this photo as part of the promo video for An Affair Across Times Square. Check that out below:

An Affair Across Times Square is available on Loose Id, Amazon, Barnes & Noble

And now for Six Sentence Sunday! Here's an excerpt from a hot little scene from An Affair Across Times Square...

She felt the heat of his body through her thin dress, the cool air slipping between her bare thighs, chilling her slick folds. On the right of her body, she felt Tyler’s hand slide under the hem of the dress. She forced herself not to react, not to let everyone in the small space know how close she was to coming. His fingers stilled a moment, and she heard a soft groan behind her as he caressed her bare hip.
That’s right, baby. No panties.

You can buy the book on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Loose Id

Romance According to Rachell: The countdown

I hope you all didn't miss me too much last week. My rugrats were keeping me very busy.

I have an official release date for the release of An Affair Across Times Square. So I'm here to celebrate with you! The release date is exactly five weeks from tomorrow. August, 21, 2012. Let the countdown begin!

To celebrate this event, I put up a little snippet of the book on my website. Click here to read the excerpt.

There's also a bit on that site about the process and idea for An Affair Across Times Square. So I thought I'd share a little more with you all about the book. Here's the little teaser that goes along with it...

Layla Morgan is tired of getting into trouble, and getting hurt. And she fears her wild nature is going to strike yet again. But maybe this time, she’s finally met the guy that can stand close enough to touch her inner flames, and not get burned. The man across Times Square seems enthralled by her wildness instead of scared in the face of it. He can’t seem to look away as she shows him just how much fun she can have… with herself.

After one glance of silky skin and talented fingers, Tyler Lachlan doesn’t stand a chance of resisting the delicious distraction of the mystery woman from the Marietta Hotel. He’s sure there’s more to her than her sultry voice and mahogany thighs, but he doesn’t know if he’s willing to risk his career to find out.

Could what began as a voyeuristic affair across Times Square develop into something more?

And what better way to celebrate than by giving presents???? I'll be doing some giveaways here and on some other blogs over the next five weeks. I'm still scheduling my guest blogging spots, but check back here next Monday for the schedule and even maybe the first of my give-aways.

Romance According to Rachell: New Cover

Good morning bloggerverse and welcome to the Divas of Desire!

This week I want to share something awesome with all of you (don't you feel special?) I got my cover art! My artist's name is Valerie Tibbs and she rocks my socks. It's very difficult for an author to let someone visualize something that's been living inside your head for so many months (or years). In my case, Tyler and Layla were partly based on a model and an actor, so I had images in my mind of what they should look like.

I was asked to give physical descriptions and some other information to the cover artist and also put in a decent-sized excerpt from the book for inspiration. I sent her a spicy little scene from the first section of the book and it did the trick! The cover is gorgeous and nice and hot! It's a great realization of the characters inside my head and inside the book.

I quite like it and I hope you will all feel the same. So without further ado, here it is...

What do you think?
