#CoverReveal BELLE BY NIGHT by @RachellNichole

Hey Divettes!

Welcome back!

I am sooooooooo excited to share this all with you. I wrote another book! I know that may seem like old news since that's what we talk about here on this blog - writing, reading, promoting books... but it's been a crazy kind of year (actually crazier than most, which if you know my life is saying something) filled with falling in love, two book signings, new jobs, moving to a new state, beginning new adventures, and launching a new pen name (more on that in this other post: )

So amidst all of that, I wrote a new book, called Belle By Night, during Camp NaNoWriMo! It was a hell of a lot of fun, and I am here today to share a bit more about the book with you, including the official release date, which is October 6! That's just around the corner, folks. Only a few more days!

Anna by day, but Belle by night, Annabelle Stevens trades in her classroom ruler for a telephone and leather bustier when the sun goes down. With her heart set on finishing her Master’s degree and opening her own low-cost preschool, she had to earn extra cash somehow. And as a phone sex operator, she makes more than she could working three day jobs. But when day and night collide, Mistress Belle’s favorite caller jeopardizes her normal life, and she has to choose--the dream she’s always wanted, or the secret identity that lets her be the Domme she truly is.

Widower Dean Wellington has one goal in life: to be the best father he can be to his autistic son, Preston. But when he realizes he’s falling far short, he fears he can’t give Preston everything he needs alone. When his search for a wife leads to one disastrous date after another, he finds solace in the unlikeliest of places: a phone sex operator. He knows Mistress Belle can’t be appropriate mother material, but when she orders him to bend his will to hers, he’s lost to the passionate storm she calls forth.

When Dean realizes he’ll never find a better mother for his son than Preston’s teacher Anna, he has to choose between the Mistress that brings out his darkest desires, and giving his son everything he deserves. Little does Dean know that the choice may not be a choice at all.

And without further ado, here is the cover by April Martinez

I can't wait for this book to be alive in the world. :-)

More info coming soon, I promise!

Blurb: Black Dress Chronicles, 1
The perfect shade of lipstick can lead to the perfect opportunity for sin…
When living-challenged author Claire Presswood gets invited to go on a night out on the town with her two best friends, she isn't prepared for the evening that awaits her. Hungry and overworked, she arrives at a masked party at an art museum in time to meet debonair artist Maxwell Douglas. One look from his luminous eyes and Claire knows this will be a night to remember.

Be Warned: light BDSM, spanking, sex toys

Excerpt:
“What do you think? Does this lipstick make me look fat?” I eyed the mirror and mushed my lips into a moue.
“Oh my God, Claire.” Rachel rolled her eyes and snorted. “Fat? Really?” She smoothed on a shade of cranberry red that looked dazzling with her preternaturally enhanced olive skin. The girl made being a vampire look good.
    I gave her a thumb’s up.
“Yes. Fat. Come on, guys. I need something different. Nothing too…edgy.”
“Edgy, huh?” Carmen snickered, her kitty shifter cattiness coming into play. The Latin beauty grinned.         “You should be worried about it making you look dead.”
Carmen sauntered over to the makeup counter where we were trying on new shades of lipstick and selected a tube, twisting it open. She grimaced and shoved it back.     “Some of these…ugh. You might as well be trying out for the circus. Why don’t you try something a little more drastic? Like this one?” She lifted up a black tube and opened it to reveal a shade of purplish brown that I loved.
“Sin” was one of the hottest colors around. I actually had it in my makeup bag at home, but tonight wasn’t about scaring up a bondage partner. It was more about having a normal night out with the girls.
“I already have that one. Too leather club. I want human. Natural.”
Carmen snorted and twirled a finger in her hair. “Honey, I love you, but one thing you are not is human.”
“Bitch.” I turned my head from side to side. Nope. The earthy shade was appealing and didn't make me appear like a candidate for the coroner’s office.
     Score!
“Maybe, but you know I’m right. Can’t have you going to the party looking like a zombie now, can we?”
“Ha ha.” The comment stung, but Carmen did have a point. With my complexion, if I got something too red, I’d look like I’d just eaten someone’s face off. Something too light? Postmortem ice queen with no color at all. Finding the right lipstick was an art and apparently a forensic science.
“All right, fang girl. Are you ready yet? Because I am.” Carmen poked Rachel in the back with her long red fingernail and smirked. “The party is going to be over and all the hot guys taken before you get your vampire ass out of that chair.”

***Nona's Review of Lipstick by Erzabet Bishop***

A vampire, a cat shifter and a zombie walk into a bar…

Or in this case, an art gallery. Claire wonders if her shade of lipstick is too outre for the evening out she has planned with her besties Carmen (cat shifter) and Rachel (vampire). Claire's social life hasn't been too impressive since her husband left her after she'd been turned into a zombie. Even her diet is somewhat limited--she prefers raw hamburger and steak to munching on human brains.

The gallery features a display of erotic art and soon Claire encounters the artist, who is everything a sexually deprived zombie gal could wish for and more. When she gets him alone, surprises and excitement ensue.

Lipstick is a fun and erotic short story for lovers of the paranormal. Due to its brief length, it's more of an appetizer than a full meal, but will leave readers eager for a taste of author's other work. Perhaps there will be stories for Rachel and Carmen, too?

Off topic: My Visit to #Copenhagen! #Denmark #Amalienborg #Rosenborg #travel

Hello, friends! Today I'm back to sharing about my trip to Europe last month. I've shared a bit about Iceland, and now I'd like to move on to Copenhagen!

Our hotel--a lovely place.
Our flight from Reykjavic took about three hours. Through the train from the airport left us only a short distance from our hotel, we got a bit lost and walked in circles for a while. That's what happens when you're in a city where you don't speak the language and Google maps is only confusing you. :-) (A hint for future travelers: everyone in Copenhagen seems to speak English and the names of streets are on the sides of buildings.) A kind taxi driver gave us directions and we finally found our destination: the Copenhagen Strand Hotel, only a few blocks from the scenic Nyhavn area. The entire area is lined with restaurants and bars and crowded with sightseers and tourists.

View of the canal and houses.
Seeing the canal and the colorful houses in the area, I couldn't help but be reminded of Hans Christian Andersen's fairytale The Steadfast Tin Soldier. Perhaps this canal was where the soldier had his grand adventure, sailing in his paper boat, encountering a water rat and finally ending up in the belly of a fish.
This anchor is a monument to the Danish sailors who died in World War II.

The monument's plaque, in Danish and English.

So many delicious things to eat and drink! We really enjoyed ourselves. Fish of course is a common dish, as well as pork. And let's talk dessert! Here are two important Danish words: is (pronounced like "ice" in English) and kugle (plural: kugler). How many scoops of ice cream would you like? Three kugler of is, please! We fell in love with Danish ice cream. There are all the familiar flavors you'd find in the states, plus more unusual ones, including (wait for it) licorice! Yes, if you love licorice, you'll love Denmark. Licorice in all its forms is very popular (including in chocolate bars--see the picture right). And don't forget the waffle cone! If you really want to gussy up your ice cream cone, you can add some jam and cream topping, and top it all off with a flødebolle (a big chocolate-covered marshmallow). Enjoy!

Okay, back to some of the sights. There are several palaces to visit within not-too-far walking distance (and of course we had to walk off some of those kugler, lol). We visited Amalienborg, which is the winter residence of the Royal Family of Denmark. It consists of four palaces in a square. We toured the museum in Christian VIII's palace and took pictures of the guards in their uniforms and tall bearskin caps.

Then we visited Rosenborg Castle, which was built back in the 1600s. The museum contained many artifacts as well as the Crown jewels. We also enjoyed the beautiful flowers in the Castle Garden, which is the oldest royal garden in Denmark.

Above is a picture of Rosenborg from the garden.

 Above, a couple of crowns!

A lovely rose from the Rosenborg Castle Garden.

Next time: Adventures in laundry and more sights!

Have a wonderful week, all!

#Newrelease: Write to Me @nonaraines #contemporaryromance exclusive #excerpt

Good morning friends, and happy Wednesday! It's a happy day for me, because I'm proud to announce that my latest contemporary romance novella, Write to Me, is now available from The Wild Rose Press. To celebrate, I'd like to share an exclusive excerpt from the story with you.

Gloria Navarro met and married her soul mate. When he died, she felt she'd never know that kind of love again. But when she finds a love letter between the pages of a book and the man who wrote the missive, she starts to believe lightning might strike twice.

To Bryan Dunn, love is a four-letter word. He doesn't go in for cheap sentiment or hearts-and-flowers. But he wants Gloria, and to get her, he'll let her believe he wrote the silly letter. The longer he's with her, though, the more he cares. If she discovers the truth about him, it just might break the heart he never thought he had.

Excerpt:

Gloria picked up her keys and her purse and was just about to walk her daughter out when someone tapped on the glass door. Both women started. Gloria gasped. Bryan stood on the step outside.
“We’re closed,” Desi said loudly, pointing to the clock on the wall behind the front desk.
“Let him in,” Gloria told her. “I know him.”
Desi gaped at her, then unlocked the door. “Hello?”
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to startle you.” Bryan glanced from Desi to Gloria. “I meant to come earlier.”
“Come in, Bryan. This is my daughter, Desiree. Desi, this is Professor Dunn. He teaches…poetry at the college.”
He nodded at Desi. “English Literature and World Lit. How do you do?”
“Hello.” She gave her mother a wide-eyed stare as she stepped back and allowed Bryan into the salon. Her gaze travelled up and down his tall form. Behind Bryan’s back, she gave her mother a nod of approval and a thumb’s up. He’s hot, she mouthed.
Gloria tried to tamp down the excitement skittering up her spine but couldn’t control the way her pulse spiked as Bryan neared. She was afraid she’d have slipped his mind, but he hadn’t forgotten her. Just as she couldn’t forget him. “This is unexpected.”
He reached into his jacket pocket, the same jacket he wore earlier, and pulled out the letter. “I’m here because of this.”
Gloria’s glance bounced from her daughter back to Bryan.
“I still need your help.” His expression was so sincere, his tone so earnest. Did he really need her?
“I don’t know what I can do—”
“Help me write a letter to Courtney.”
His statement punctured her hopes, letting the air out of them. He wanted her to help him win back his lover. She wanted to smack herself for feeling disappointed.
Thinking about him all day had buoyed her mood. She’d told herself it was a chance meeting, a mild flirtation with a handsome stranger. Nothing would come of it. Had she been lying to herself, secretly hoping for more?

Off Topic: More Adventures in #Iceland! @nonaraines #travel #BlueLagoon

Hi friends! I promised last week to tell you more about my trip to Iceland and Denmark. I'm sure I sound a bit like a hick as I recount some of my "adventures", but please bear with me. :-)

Last time I shared a bit about our first full day in Reykjavic, where we explored the city on a walking tour and then on our own. The following day, we took a trip to The Blue Lagoon!  It is a geothermal spa and one of the most visited tourist spots in the country. We took a bus there, almost an hour from Reykjavic.
View from the bus window in Iceland
The scenic view was fascinating on the ride. We traveled for miles without seeing anything but moss and rocks: no trees, no houses, no animals or people. The population of Iceland is approx. 320,000 people and the majority live in Reykjavic.

Enjoying the geothermal waters
Though the day was dreary and cold, as soon as we hit the lovely warm water we were happy! The water wasn't too deep, about shoulder level. Of course, that meant our heads were still cold, but you can't have everything. The water is full of minerals that are supposed to good for your skin, but they do a real number on your hair, in spite of the conditioner provided by the spa.
Another view at the Blue Lagoon

After lounging around in the water, we grabbed our towels and robes and went inside for some drinks and snacks. *Note: If you're booking tickets for the spa, the "basic" level only provides you admission. You need to provide your own towel. Since we didn't bring any, we decided to upgrade to towels, robes and slippers. Hey, you only go around once! :-) *

We stayed and had an early dinner at the spa restaurant. And we bought some hats to keep our heads warm for the rest of our stay! If I ever go back to Iceland (which I hope to do some day), I'll be better prepared for the weather. Afterwards, back to the hotel on the bus. It was a wonderful day.

Next up: Copenhagen, Denmark!

Have a wonderful week, all!
