Happy Friday, everyone! I'm so happy to share the news of
my upcoming novella His Kind of Woman.
In accordance with my Five for Friday meme, let me share five tidbits with you:
1. His
Kind of Woman is a Spring Fling by Loose Id and will be published June 11 .
2. The novella will be FREE for a limited time from the Loose Id site.
3. The story stars Venetia, the transgender
woman who was a supporting character in my earlier Uncollared. Let me share the story's blurb:
When Roy Girard went looking for Victor Varrano, he never expected
a woman to answer the door. He soon discovers that Victor is now Venetia. Roy's
startled, but even more surprised by his attraction to her. As they spend time
together, he doesn't want to let her go. But she's sure to dump him when she
learns his secret.
Venetia's falling hard and fast for Roy. But when she learns that
his brother was the bully who tormented her in high school, she's shattered.
She can't wrap her head around the fact that the man who made such amazing love
to her could so completely betray her trust.
4. Part of the story deals with bullying and
forgiveness. Bullying is a huge problem among young people, and particularly
for gay and trans youth. I was very interested in some discussions on sites
such as Slate and Salon, where individuals look back to their own youth. Some contacted
their bullies, others were bullies. These blogs and their comments were fascinating
and extremely thought provoking.
5. His Kind of Woman is also the title of a film noir starring
Robert Mitchum and Jane Russell. Vincent Price co-stars and is hilarious in the
role of a hammy actor and Raymond Burr plays a very scary bad guy. It's an interesting
film with a lot of mystery and action, plus an unexpected romance between two
people who should be all wrong for each other (a little like Venetia and Roy).
I hope you'll give His
Kind of Woman a try when it comes out on June 11. In the meantime…
Have a wonderful weekend, all!
